“A Rebel’s Outcry” is a biography on Civil Rights Leader Sei Fujii (1882-1954). Large-format book incorporating photographs, articles, and artwork on the life of Sei Fujii. The text comes from the official biography on Sei Fujii commissioned by manager Junko Maruya of the Kashu Mainichi (California Daily News). Originally written in Japanese, “Rafu Gigyu Ondo” roughly translates to “The Rebellious Dance” and is the source material written by Author Kenichi Sato. The text is translated by Saeko Dickinson and edited by Naomi Hirahara. Through the ongoing research including interviews with the families of Sei Fujii, J Marion Wright, and Owen Kupfer— certain articles and photographs have been incorporated into the book. Illustrations by Takashi Uchida, Layouts by Amy Inouye, Publishers Jeffrey Gee Chin and Fumiko Carole Fujita. The biography is intended to release November 2, 2021.
