Dr. Sanbo and Kazuko Sakaguchi Internship
for UCLA Graduate Students
UCLA graduate students interested in history and the preservation of the historic ethnic neighborhood of Little Tokyo are encouraged to apply for the Sakaguchi Internship program which offers a paid stipend for a ten-week summer program with the Little Tokyo Historical Society! The internship stipend is awarded by the UCLA Asian American Studies Center and disbursed through UCLA Graduate Division.
This experience will provide students with the opportunity to work with a grass-roots organization and to be involved in various activities related to preserving and promoting the history, culture, arts, archives, and the commercial district that comprises the Little Tokyo neighborhood. Interns will be supervised by Bill Watanabe, MSW, formerly Executive Director of the Little Tokyo Service Center and Founder of the Little Tokyo Historical Society. Interested students should contact Ms. Meg Thornton of the UCLA Asian American Studies Center for more information.
September 7, 2018 marked the last day of my Sakaguchi Summer Internship. Everyone at Little Tokyo Community Impact Fund (LTCIF) and Little Tokyo Historical Society (LTHS) has been extremely kind to me and has provided great feedback and critique of my work. For LTCIF, I spent my last week helping them write follow up email to potential investors for the community impact fund. I helped prepare their marketing for their upcoming meeting in the South Bay regarding the fund.
