Sei Fujii, a 1911 USC law school graduate, was posthumously awarded honorary admission to the State Bar of California on approval by the Supreme Court of California on May 24, 2017. This multifaceted LTHS project committee is led by members Jeffrey Gee Chin and Carole Fujita and partnered with the Japanese American Bar Association. Pro bono work was provided by McGuireWoods LLP. Congratulations on this significant accomplishment to right a grave injustice! Mr. Fujii was denied sitting for the bar exam due his not being a U.S. naturalized citizen which was prohibited by federal law in the early 20th century.
